Frequently Asked Questions

Starting counselling can bring up a lot of questions. Here are answers to the ones I’m asked most. If yours isn’t here, send me a message.

Getting started

No. You can book directly. WorkCover and CTP clients need an approved claim and a referral from their doctor.
Both are trained to help with emotional and mental health concerns. Counsellors focus on talking therapy and practical support. Psychologists are registered with AHPRA and can also offer psychological assessments and Medicare-rebated sessions with a GP referral.
We talk about what brought you here, what you’d like to change and how counselling works. You can ask questions and decide whether it feels like a good fit, with no obligation to continue. There’s no pressure to share more than you’re comfortable with.
It depends on what you would like to work on. Some people come for a few sessions, others for longer. We review how things are going together as we go.
Send me a message through the Contact Us page and I’ll get back to you with my next available times.
I’ll reply personally within one business day, by text or email, whichever you prefer. I’ll let you know whether I can help, my next available times and how to book.
If something is weighing on you, affecting your sleep, work or relationships, or you’d simply like space to talk things through, counselling can help. You don’t need to be in crisis or have the right words. If you’re unsure, send an enquiry with a few lines about what’s going on and I’ll let you know honestly whether I’m the right fit, or suggest where else to go.

Sessions

Sessions are 55 minutes.
In person at 11/58 The Boulevarde, Strathfield NSW 2135 on Fridays, 1:30pm – 7pm. Online on Thursdays, 1pm – 7pm, and Fridays, 1:30pm – 7pm.
For most people, yes. Online sessions use the same approach. All you need is a private space and a stable internet connection.
Yes. I’m fluent in English and Korean, and sessions can be in either language or a mix of both. 한국어 상담이 가능합니다.

Privacy & confidentiality

Yes. What you share in counselling is kept confidential. The limits are where there is a serious risk to your safety or someone else’s, or where the law requires information to be shared. These limits are explained in your first session.
No. For WorkCover and CTP claims, insurers receive the information needed to approve and pay for sessions, not a record of what you discuss.

Fees

Individual sessions are $110 and couples sessions are $140. See the Fees page for details.
Some funds cover counselling with an ACA Registered Counsellor under extras. Check with your fund before booking.
Generally no. Medicare rebates under a Mental Health Treatment Plan apply to psychologists, mental health social workers and occupational therapists.

Taking the first step is often the hardest. You don’t have to take it alone.

When you’re ready, send me a message and we can talk about where to start.
